Last week’s two auctions sparkled with highlights.
The Victorian and Later Effects sale on Tuesday saw interest in the room but also a great number of sales online. With over 90% sold, there were good results from the 19th and 20th centuries. Highlights included a group of collectables and jewellery featuring a Victorian parure of coral beaded brooch and earrings and a framed miniature for £2000, a stylish Fornasetti style maple-lined sideboard for £600, and a contemporary oil on board depicting a stylised landscape which shot up to £650.
Saturday’s auction of Antiques and Collectables was a RECORD SALE. Coins in particular proved their value, led by a George VI 1937 specimen set for £9200 and a twelve 22ct gold full sovereign collection for £3100. Gold also continued to sell well with an 18ct gold solitaire ring selling for £2900 and a 9ct gold charm bracelet for £2500. A beautiful oil on copper panel of The Three Graces made £2800, and good results were seen for the furniture including a large oak kitchen dining table for £900 and results up to £800 for the Ladderax shelving units.
