Luxury Finds Shine at Mendip Auction Rooms

16th October 2026

Silver, jewellery, watches and designer fashion were firmly in the spotlight at Mendip Auction Rooms on 13th October, when our latest Luxury Lifestyle Sale attracted strong bidding for an enticing selection of beautiful and collectable pieces.

Among the stars of the sale was a pair of finely modelled silver pheasants by C. J. Vander Ltd, Sheffield 1997, which flew away at an impressive £2,600. Matching that price was an elegant 18ct white gold Kirsten Jorgenson wristwatch, its oval case surrounded by a halo of diamonds, which also sold for £2,600.

Designer jewellery continued to attract attention, with a discontinued Boodles ‘Circus’ 18ct gold and diamond necklet achieving £1,600, while an 18ct gold Tissot wristwatch made £1,450. An articulated amethyst ring with matching amethyst and diamond earrings sold for £1,250, demonstrating the continuing appetite for good quality jewellery.
There was plenty of interest in silver too. A collection of Georgian and later silver cutlery realised £1,250, while the impressive ‘Weeks Perpetual Silver Challenge’ trophy cup, dating from 1935 and sold on behalf of the Mendip Beekeepers Association, achieved £1,220.

Fashion also had its moment. A vintage Chanel ‘Diana’ style handbag in quilted navy blue leather sold for £850, while a Gucci suede and leather handbag achieved £250 and a Hermès silk scarf sold for £200.

With Christmas now approaching, attention is already turning to our Christmas Luxury Lifestyle Sale in December. Entries of silver, jewellery, watches, designer handbags, fashion and other luxury pieces are now invited.
