White Glove Single Owner Camera Auction Tops £60,000

Killens Mendip Auction Rooms is delighted to announce a white glove result for its recent single-owner, Photographica auction which took place on 20th August with all 363 lots sold and a total hammer exceeding £60,000.

The highlight from an enticing collection of Leica cameras was Lot 25, a factory use ‘Betriebsk’ M7 body which achieved £2,200 (before fees) along with other notable results for a Hassleblad 503CW (Lot 276) which achieved £1,900 and also the most watched lot of the auction, Lot 74, A Kyocera, Contax G2 rangefinder, which eventually sold for £1,100.

The exceptional 100% sell-through rate highlighted the demand within the secondary camera market and Killens experience with handling and promoting single owner collections to a broad audience of buyers. Photography lead, Neil Sterry commented “We’ve hosted Photographica sales for coming up to four years, and in that time we’ve handled some fantastic collections. This one however has been the most comprehensive by far. Not only was it a large collection, but one of particular quality- especially through the Leica and Nikon examples ranging from their first models through to 21st century examples”.

The sale attracted strong bidding from collectors, enthusiasts and the trade across the UK and Internationally.
