From Lord of the Rings to The Hobbit and Star Wars, there was an excellent entry of film memorabilia at a Film Memorabilia sale on 7th November.
Included within the lots was an entry from the renowned Hollywood make up artist, Peter King, who won an Oscar at the 2003 Academy Awards for Lord of the Rings, The Return of the King, as well as many BAFTAs. He was also nominated for a further Oscar in 2012 for The Hobbit, An Unexpected Journey.
Amongst the items on offer were silicon prosthetic make up items and a pair of elf ear tips worn by Orlando Bloom as Legolas in Lord of the Rings realised £1300 whilst a nose worn by Sir Ian McKellan as Gandalf made £1100. Similar “body parts” worn by various characters achieved values between £500 and £1100.
Other memorabilia sold included a cast signed promotional poster for Lord of the Rings 2001 which realised £750 and the ‘Dorwinion’ wine bottle from The Hobbit sold for £420. Other items sold included film scripts, models and posters with the staging of the sale generating a good level of interest from bidders in the room and online.
Almost 600 Interiors items were offered and notable sales included A king size wooden sleigh bed £440, An Austrian cold painted bronze figure £340 and a burr walnut veneer and ormolu cased bracket clock £140.
