There was an excellent entry of over 600 lots in the Toy Sale held at the auction rooms on 17th May including a fabulous collection of Dinky and Corgi toys from the family of one collector.
There was a good array of toy trains including Hornby, Bachmann, Helijan and others with Two Heljan OO gauge diesel locomotives comprising two British Railways class 14 engines realising £140, Two Bachmann class 66 OO gauge diesel locomotives £120 and many others achieving similar values.
The entry of diecast vehicles was genuinely fabulous and the vehicles parked up in the glass cabinets was a great display. A Dinky diecast Post Office Services Gift Set met strong demand realising £320 whilst others that sold well included A French Dinky diecast Camion Laitier "55" Citroen milk lorry £290, a Dinky Supertoys diecast Bedford Pallet Jekta Van £240, A Corgi diecast Corporal guided missile on mobile launcher £170 and a Corgi diecast army fuel tanker £140 with many of the diverse selection of vehicles achieving similar prices.
Modern toys, including a good range of consoles, were greeted with strong online interest with a collection of retro Nintendo video games realising £320, a Super Nintendo Pal Version games console plus games £280 and Two Nintendo Gamecube consoles £260.
Lego also was in strong demand with a collection of four Lego Legoland sets £300, a Lego Black Seas Barracuda Legoland set £220, a Lego Technic control Cat bulldozer set £190 and a Lego Kings Castle set £180.
Other traditional toys selling to advantage included a collection of Playmobil railway related sets £260, a collection of Subbuteo table soccer game and accessories £200, a collection of Action man figures and accessories £180 and a Mamod Steam Roadster SA1 £180.
A Steiff Paddington bear teddy bear topped the selection of teddy bears on offer selling for £150 with collections of figures and lead models also selling to advantage.
The next sale of Toys will be held at the auction rooms on a new date in August and entries are invited.
