Update on Coronavirus

22nd March 2020

Killens would like to reassure our customers that we are taking the necessary precautions to help protect our clients and staff during the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and our best wishes go out to those who have been directly affected.

We continue to closely follow the information and advice being released by the Government.

All scheduled auctions will be going ahead as planned and we are open for business as usual during our usual opening times.

It is still possible to visit the auction rooms for valuation advice and to deliver items for sale but viewing days will no longer be held and it will not be possible to attend auctions. All auctions will be held online with it being possible to view items, bid online, submit commission bids or arrange telephone bids.

Visiting the Auction Rooms

All customers are asked to sanitise their hands on entering the auction rooms and before entering the saleroom to view upcoming auctions. All visitors are asked to register at reception.

It is no longer possible to attend our auctions but you can:

View the catalogue with photographs online for all future auctions
Request a condition report and additional images
Bid online or leave a commission bid or arrange a telephone bid

For further information log onto, www.mendipauctionrooms.co.uk or the-saleroom.com

We can arrange delivery of purchased items to you through our recommended couriers.

Future Auctions

The following auctions will be held with live online bidding:

Tuesday 31st March at 10am
Victorian and Later Effects

Saturday 4th April at 10am
Antiques and Collectables

Thursday 30th April at 6pm
Sporting, Fine Wines and Spirits

Our scheduled sale of Victorian and Later Effects on Tuesday 21st April has been cancelled. Auctions scheduled for after 1st May will be kept under review.

Subject to the precautions outlined above, it is still possible to visit the auction rooms to receive valuation advice and to enter items.

If you would prefer to leave items at the auction rooms without seeing any member of staff then it is possible to leave the items in a designated and frequently cleaned drop off area and to complete an entry form. Our valuers will then be in contact to confirm your entry and estimates of value. Call the auction rooms on +44 (0) 1749 840770 to confirm your arrival.

For those wishing to discover more about the value of any antiques, artwork or jewellery that they are looking to sell, we can offer an Online Valuation service via our website. Alternatively, photos and details can be sent by email to: enquiries@mendipauctionrooms.co.uk.

Precautions to take

If you are visiting the auction rooms then we would like to remind everyone that keen attention to personal hygiene, will help prevent the spread of the virus:

• Wash your hands with soap and water frequently.
• Sanitise your hands when entering the building.
• Sanitise your hands before and during a viewing.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
• Dispose of used tissues when coughing or sneezing.
• Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.

We also ask that if you have visited one of the specific areas detailed on the government website in the last 14 days you should self-isolate and call NHS 111 whether or not you are showing any symptoms or even mild symptoms.

We are dedicated to providing you with the same level of service and care, and so if you have any queries or are wanting additional information regarding our auctions and services, please contact: +44 (0) 1749 840770 | enquiries@mendipauctionrooms.co.uk.

We are keeping a close eye on the situation and how it develops and will keep this information up to date based upon Government guidance.
