17th March 2020
At Killens, we care passionately about the health and welfare of our clients and staff. We are greatly concerned at the outbreak of Coronavirus (COVID-19) and our best wishes go out to those who have been directly affected.
Killens are closely following the information and advice released by the Department of Health and Social Care and the NHS with regards to the spread and containment of Coronavirus in order to protect our employees and clients.
Rest assured however it is business as usual and our auction calendar remains unchanged and we are continuing with our upcoming auctions. It is still possible to visit the auction rooms for valuation advice and to deliver items for sale and sale days and viewing days will continue to take place until and if the Government advice changes.
If you are visiting the auction rooms then we would like to remind everyone that keen attention to personal hygiene, will help prevent the spread of the virus:
• Wash your hands with soap and water frequently.
• Sanitise your hands when entering the building.
• Sanitise your hands before and during a viewing.
• Cover your mouth and nose with a tissue or your sleeve (not your hands) when you cough or sneeze.
• Dispose of used tissues when coughing or sneezing.
• Do not touch your eyes, nose or mouth if your hands are not clean.
We also ask that if you have visited one of the specific areas detailed on the government website in the last 14 days you should self-isolate and call NHS 111 whether or not you are showing any symptoms or even mild symptoms.
We assure you that we are still committed to offering a full level of customer service but we want to highlight however the variety of ways that you can take part in our auctions from home.
Viewing the auction
All our Victorian and Later Effect Sales as well as our sales of Antiques and Collectables will be available to view with descriptions and images on our website. It is also possible to download a PDF of the catalogue, request a condition report, leave bids, listen to the sale live and view auction results.
Killens offer you the opportunity to request additional information regarding a Lot through condition reports. You can ask about general condition, ask specific questions you might have about a Lot and also request additional images to those provided on our website. Requests for condition reports must be submitted by email to email@example.com by 4pm on the day before the auction is due to take place. Condition reports will be provided by email and will not be provided verbally.
Bidding at auction
There are a variety of ways of bidding in our auctions without attending.
Live online bidding
With effect from March 31st, all our sales will benefit from live online bidding through our website. A surcharge of 3% (excluding VAT) is payable for bidding through this platform. Alternatively, it is possible to bid through the-saleroom.com but a higher surcharge is payable.
Leave a commission or absentee bid
It is possible to email or call us to leave your maximum hammer price for each lot that you are interested in. Killens will bid on your behalf taking into account any other bids and the reserve price.
Bid by telephone
Killens offer the facility to bid by telephone. You will need to call us to arrange this in advance of the auction and our staff will then call you when your lot(s) are about to be offered enabling you to bid live.
To leave a commission or telephone bid, please contact +44 (0) 1749 840770 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
Through our dedicated delivery team, we can arrange for purchased items to be delivered to your home after sale for a small additional charge which is calculated on zones based upon distance from the sale rooms. Contact us for more detail of the charges.
For those wishing to discover more about the value of any antiques, artwork or jewellery that they are looking to sell, we can offer an Online Valuation service via our website.
Alternatively, photos and details can be sent by email to: email@example.com.
Valuations are still being undertaken at the auction rooms. If you would prefer to leave items at the auction rooms without seeing any member of staff then it is possible to leave the items in a designated drop off ‘pod’ and to complete an entry form. Our valuers will then be in contact to confirm your entry and estimates of value. Call the auction rooms on +44 (0) 1749 840770 to confirm your arrival so a pod can be allocated.
We are dedicated to providing you with the same level of service and care, and so if you have any queries or are wanting additional information regarding our auctions and services, please contact: +44 (0) 1749 840770 | firstname.lastname@example.org.
We are keeping a close eye on the situation and how it develops and will keep this information up to date based upon Government guidance.
